Lifebuoys and Lifeslings

Whether all on board always wear lifejackets, it’s still a wise practice to have a means of safety recovery of a person who has fallen overboard. The Rescue Sling and Swedebuoy are excellent systems, both are easy to deploy by throwing the rescue sling or buoy with the floating rope attached toward the distressed. The distressed is then brought alongside where the integral lifting loops can be used to lift them aboard. The classic horseshoe buoy is also a great back up to a rescue sling that can be quickly thrown out to a distressed and in combination with a lifejacket provide the person is distress with extra buoyancy whilst waiting to be recovered.
